Apollo is putting $1.34 billion into 19 apartment communities. That’s 7,059 units across properties averaging 39 years old. They’re doing it through a roughly $2 billion joint venture with UDR at a cap rate of around 6%. UDR Inc. is a publicly traded real estate investment trust that invests in apartments.
The NMHC is the National Multifamily Housing Council. They ran a survey of apartment executives. 81% say it’s a worse time than ever to borrow. 53% say they can’t refinance the full amount of maturing loans. Not without breaching lender requirements.
